Vintage Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam | 1947 | Hardcover Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam, 1947, Published by Random House, New York, Hardcover with Box, 9-3/4” x 6-1/2”, 149 pages Translated by Edward Fitzgerald in 1859 from a manuscript of a Persian verse attributed to Omar Khayyam, a 12th century Persian mathematician and philosopher. “The Rubaiyat” contains observations on complex subjects such as love, death, and the existence of God and an afterlife. Condition: Good condition, wrapped in black and red cloth with repeating patterns of grapes and leaves. Book is old and shows wear commensurate with its age, but gives the book a charming vintage vibe. The illustrations are numerous and simply stunning, created by Mahmoud Sayah, carrying on the great tradition of Persian miniatures.
