@ediesfeld224 hi! It could slightly shorten the dress if pulled tightly, but not by much and it would change the appearance of the bodice of the dress as well! I hope that answers your question!

@victoriacook421 hi! The strings allow for some more give in areas of the dress. The dress is 100% cotton so there isn’t any give with the fabric. In my opinion this dress would fit a 4/6 as long as you are not very large chested. This brand tends to have smaller chest areas! I can get you some measurements in about 30 minutes if you’d like!
