flowinflower @ealevine1 hello..I’m adding a picture that may help, so thank you for your question. The measurement from armpit to armpit is about 20 in., circumference about 40. The coat does have s a little stretch for easy wear, not stiff at all.

flowinflower @crowleya pardon my delay. I understand your concern. I typically wear a medium/reg. You can check their website for sizing…now sizing is not listed in numbers. I it looks like the 8 is perhaps closest to a small..you might want to give them a call. Hope this helps, let me know.
