Tanzanite is a beautiful bluish purple colored stone found in the 1960's in Tanzania. Tiffany & Company had actually come up with the name Tanzanite. Tanzanite, a member of the zoisite family, is only found in the one location & the odds of finding it elsewhere are apparently, one in one million. With the mine getting pretty close to being mined out, tanzanite is sure to become harder & harder to come by, while the price continues to climb. This ring is a 6 x 4mm oval, surrounded by 1mm round cut, genuine diamonds. It had been a gift from my parents. I don't wear rings too often, anymore, so it's basically in like new condition. I think it's a size 7, but, because it's set in sterling silver, it can easily be resized. I'm hoping it will find a new home where it's beauty can be admired & enjoyed, so much more! Because tanzanite is a relatively soft stone (rated a 5 on the mohs hardness scale), it's probably not something you will want to wear 24-7, particularly in the form of a ring or bracelet!
