This hand punched tin comes from San Miguel de Allende, the capital of the state of Guanajuato, Mexico. Tin art is produced when pieces of tin are cut to shape and stamped with patterns, a process dating back to the 1500s. Sometimes it is painted, paired with tile, antiqued with patina, or polished to stay its natural shiny silver tone. This one is decorated with yellow and blue mexican tiles. Pre-owned in good vintage condition. Expect minor surface abrasions and slight wear consistent with age, use, and storage.
