Our daughter wore this once for a beach wedding and it was absolutely adorable. The straps at the top are tie-up and therefore adjustable. She wears a size 8-9 and it went to her ankles. If you want it to drag a little then probably would work well for a 7-8 year old. The waist is elastic. In great, like new, condition.
