Y. circa 1940’s Excellent Vintage Condition There are three “emeralds” and one “ruby” on the scimitar and a metal sphinx head on the crescent The Shriners are a fraternity based on philanthropy and is known for its founding of the Shriners Children’s Hospital The main philanthropy is to have a healthcare system to serve children regardless of their ability to pay or insurance status The fez is one of the most recognizable symbols of Shriners International and was adopted as the Shriners official headgear in 1872 Wearing the Shriner Fez is an outward symbol of one’s membership in the fraternity. The emblems on the hat stand for the high aims, lofty goals and elevated characterizations of the Shriners The sphinx stands for the governing body The five pointed star represents the thousands of children helped by the philanthropy each year The crescent and scimitar are representative of the characteristics embodied by the Shriners.
