Here's the deal, my grandmother lived in Japan while my grandfather was stationed there in the Navy in the early 1950s. She was very creatively skilled and made this Geisha doll under the guidance of an instructor whose name I regrettably do not know. My grandmother was white, so while this doll is authentically made in Japan, keep that in mind.
This doll has been exposed to sun while on display and has some sun-related fading (see pictures of dress for an idea). Fading aside, she is in reasonable vintage condition but has some straw missing on the hat and a mark on one cheek. I restrung her instrument myself as the threads were fraying. Would definitely benefit from a good dusting. Affixed to a wooden platform, about 17-18" tall.
I have no place for this but feel immensely guilty about donating it. My hope is that there is someone out there who loves this sort of thing and would enjoy having it. If this is you, I am happy to "sell" it to you for the lowest possible Poshmark price (I'm not kidding, leave me a comment and tell me you love her and then send me an offer for $3), I just ask that you do not take advantage of this and try to resell for a profit.
