Unheardof x Rivalry Low Grandma’s Ugly Couch

The adidas Rivalry Low ‘Grandma’s Ugly Couch’ is taken from a collaborative pack with the Cincinnati-based store Unheardof, whose founder, Phil Lipschutz, plumbed his childhood memories for the design inspiration of the shoe. The classic silhouette features an off-white corduroy upper, covered in a floral print that resembles the embroidered geraniums, tulips, and roses found on Phil’s grandmother’s couch. The adidas logo on the tongue tag is inscribed in Grandma’s handwriting, while her frequent signoff on cards and letters — ‘Always be a good boy’ — is printed in gold foil lettering on a lavender-colored heel overlay. The low-top rides on a gum rubber cupsole, featuring a medial-side foam wedge in a bright red hue.
