Chanel Vintage Gold Chain Belcher / Rolo style links Interlocking CC set over heart-shaped & hinged hook closure. Marked on one end of the clasp: “CHANEL” “97 P” “MADE IN FRANCE” with all the corresponding symbols like the overlapping CC logo in a circle. Comes with box, can provide certificate of authenticity from original vendor Approximate Measurements: 0.25” links 0.75” wide decorative CC clasps 28” long I have a few necklaces in this style that are over 100 years old. Chanel’s earliest costume jewelry was inspired by a variety of ancient eras & cultures - Etruscan, Renaissance, Celtic to name a few - and those styles continue to be seen in later collections. This piece is from Spring / Printemps 1997 when Victoire de Castellane was still leading the costume jewelry department with Karl Lagerfeld as general creative director at Chanel. Much of Chanel's costume jewelry of this era was gold plated and it seems to be the case with this necklace as well, based on an acid/scratch test with 22k solution.
