Vintage Sterling silver hand made concho belt. Signed by Navajo artist Jerry Werito; portion marked DM for Daniel Martinez. Belt measures 37 inches long.
The conchos have two different designs and have copper loop on backs. This is a wonderful belt; because of Jerry's history for silver-smithing, I would guess this belt to be from around the 60s or 70s.
He is listed on page 367 of the Little Book of Marks on Southwestern Silver by Billy Hougart.
Leather on the belt has some wear and stains consistent with age. In order to preserve the patina, the item has not been repaired, cleaned, or polished.

just to clear things up, you have a mash up here. Daniel Martinez made the conchos and buckle, thus the DM Hallmark, that belt is not original, someone replaced it, which it kind of a shame. Daniel is one of my favorite Navajo belt makers.

What are the measurements of the conchos?

@montanalvr42 thank you for the info-we got it at an estate sale in a package deal, so it's not our forte.

@steagallm measurements of the conches are now included in the pictures

I'm devastated! Is this really sold?
purple_mouse
@boohamington-yes, it sold a few days ago. Would you like us to let you know if the backs out for some reason?
