This vintage tapestry clutch belonged to my grandmother. She passed away more than 30 years ago at age 91 and it has been carefully tucked away in a drawer all these years.
She likely bought this clutch in NYC in the 1930s or 1940s. The authentic tapestry fabric is in great shape: no snags or stains, rich floral pattern of mauve, browns, and greens. The interior is lined with what appears to be satin. The Ingber name is embossed in the satin-like material. The kiss lock and metal frame are mottled with age and function perfectly. There is a small red mark on the inside satin-like material, likely from a pen or cosmetic. I would love for this clutch o be able to find a new home or purpose with someone who will appreciate its history.
According to information found online (http://bagladyemporium.com/BLU/index.php?n=Main.IngberCo), Ingber & Company was founded by brothers, Issac and David Ingber in 1903 and closed in 1966. Made in the U.S.A.
