-RARE - During research I could not find one piece of this kind of art that was done with the glass/quartz/crystal stones. Though they are said to traditionally make some with the glass stones, I couldn’t find an example. Not sure of what glass stones are made.
-This art is created by hand in Myanmar, Burma. * KALAGA* The style comes from the Mandalay region, made for royalties (castles) in the past.
-This one is estimated to be from the 1960’s.
-The sewing technique is called Shwe Gyi. They use metallic, nonmetallic, silk, linen, silver & gold threads (I don’t know if it is real) while sewing on a variety of glass beads & sequins on black felt, which this one is. THIS PIECE HASN’T HAD THE THREADING TESTED TO SEE IF IT IS SILVER & GOLD AS TRADITIONALLY USED. This thread has the essence that genuine 14k n up has!
-Stunning!!!
-They are traditionally made using lucky animals such as the elephant. They pad them with cotton or similar to give them a 3D effect & sew sequins to enhance.
-Professionally framed in wood. The frame is finished in a gold tone. No glass.
- I HAVE ANOTHER ONE IF YOU NEED A MATCHING PAIR.
-Size: 13.5” x 13.5”

Kalaga Elephant Wall Art
- *** The last picture shows were some of the glass stones are missing. Though with the busyness of the tapestry, it isn’t noticeable. And with the age & intricacy it is still in excellent condition!
