Rare vintage, and beautiful serving dish with gold trimming on the edges and delicate blue flowers along a scallop exterior.
Bowl measures approximately
7 3/4” across and 2 1/2” inches high.
Excellent condition, no chips, cracks, or crazing. The gold detail has slightly worn off in areas which can be expected for the age of this piece. The bottom of the piece is slightly discolored, but would probably be cleaned up easily with magic eraser.
Limoges is an area in France where a majority of porcelain factories were located. Porcelain china is a mix of kaolin and petuntse clays. This dish was produced in the factory in Limoges, France.
The GD stands for E. Gerard et Dufraiuseix. The A stands for Abbott who was the importer and distributor for these wares in NYC. GD had bought Charles Haviland around 1882. GD added A in 1901 and used that mark until 1941.
This dish would make an excellent Mother’s Day gift and a lovely centerpiece to add low flowers for display.
