Letting go of a beautiful 18k yellow gold metaille d'amour pendant (French love token) with a lovely patina. This is made by goldsmith Augis. Double "A" hallmark on the front. It is in perfect vintage condition. A lovely addition to your collection if you are into these kinds of pieces. Background: Alphonse Augis was a French jeweler in the early 20th century who became known for making this charm and its variations. The writing is based on a poem by Rosemonde Gérard called “L’éternelle chanson” or the eternal song, in English. The line in the poem is “And as every day I love you more; greater than yesterday, less than tomorrow.” The writing on the charm is “(+) Qu’Hier (-) Que Demain” which translates to: greater than yesterday, less than tomorrow.
