Signed Mazer 1940's Sterling & Rhinestone Brooch

A beautiful bird brooch circa 1940's by Joseph Mazer. This gold vermeil over sterling silver figural features a songbird in flight embellished with pave clear rhinestones and a ruby red eye. It also has a larger clear rhinestone clasp in its beak. This piece is in very good overall vintage condition. All rhinestones are clear and intact and the body of the bird is in lovely shape. Its one flaw is a missing piece of the rollover clasp.It functions fine as a C-style clasp. It could also be repaired. 2 1/2" across. Marked Mazer Sterling. Brothers Joseph & Louis Mazer began their jewelry company in 1923. In the late 1940's they went their separate ways and Joseph began his own company, Joseph J. Mazer and Co. Price reflects minor flaw.
