Gorgeous and unique Manuheali’i dress. Love this color way and modern take on their iconic ulu quilt print.
Womens size Medium
Stretchy top and flowy babydoll cut allows this dress to be worn by a range of sizes, depending on your desired fit. Seen on 5’2” size 6, fell right at my knee
Very stretchy shirred / ruched brown bandeau top is 100% cotton with adjustable tan straps
Made in USA
Bottom babydoll skirt is 100% rayon and features black ulu quilt print over burgundy and pumpkin orange swirly Hawaiian print.
I believe it’s a “vintage” 90’s / Y2K piece as there isn’t a website on back of tag. The other older dresses I have with this same tag were purchased right after they changed from the original white tags.
Not sure if adjustable straps are original or were possibly added to piece by previous owner. My mom got it for me from a garage sale in Hilo many years ago. Seems to be easily removable if you prefer a strapless style
Excellent used condition, only worn few times always hand washed in cold and line dried indoors
I haven’t come across another Manuhealii dress in this style, absolutely loved it but it’s a little too young and sexy for me these days lol. Hoping another wahine will rock it and cherish it as I did.
Would be open to trading for another local Hawaii designer piece in XS, Small or Medium - either Manu, Kealopiko, Sig Zane, Manaola, Nake’u Awai, Acacia, Bete Mu’umu’u, Alohiwai, Kahulale’a, etc

was this originally strapless and straps added after?

@carak808 hi, that’s a great question. I bought it exactly like this so I am not sure. It could explain why I couldn’t find another similar dress like this though haha

@carak808 I always wanted to take the dress to a seamstress and have her cut a little from the hem of the skirt and make two straps from that fabric that tie on the shoulder, like other vintage manu dresses have. But never got around to doing that. I will post pictures of where the straps connect to the dress tomorrow so you can see it. Mahalo

@carak808 hi! I’ve added some photos of the inside of dress where the straps connect. It’s hard to say if they’re original or not, as many of these earlier Manuheali’i pieces have a very homemade quality them :) definitely look to be easily removed if that is your preference tho. Please let me know if you need any other pics :)
