In spectacular condition considering it is six decades old and was a favorite of its owner who enjoyed it for more than thirty years. This honey of an evening bag belonged to my grandmother.
-The exterior of the genuine leather, which is embossed with a snakeskin print, is still *immaculate*!
– The solid brass decorative top trim has a minor amount of patina.
– The faux gems (I believe they’re made of glass, but perhaps resin) are in perfect condition, except that one has unfortunately been lost.
– The amazing quality and craftsmanship of the stunning black and gold textured satin fabric interior has really held up! There’s just a trace amount of dust and very minor signs of wear.
– The only moderately noticeable interior flaws are cosmetic wear to the inner metal frame, and a tad of fraying where the edge of the black fabric meets that frame on one side, as shown in the photos.
The clutch features two interior envelope pockets on one side, and a single main compartment. The bag opens by simply pulling the back half to fold it away from the front while grasping the front tab. It closes by pushing the halves back together. There is no magnet, no snap nor other type of fastener, but the bag does not come open accidentally. It is unbranded. There is no label or stamp of any kind anywhere on it.
The bag itself (excluding top decoration) is 14.5cm high by 21.5cm long. The maximum usable width across the bottom is 7.5cm. (In inches, that’s roughly 5.7”x8.5”x3”)
