CUSTOM DESIGNED, this one-of-a-kind, strapless tea length dress was worn only once to a VERY high-brow, black tie event at the legendary Shubert Theater in New Haven, Connecticut, the final stop before Broadway’s biggest shows made their debuts on the stages of 42nd Street in NYC.
Possibly considered vintage (circa 1990), its style is timeless. It was worn with a net petticoat-type slip underneath to give it some “pouf”, but was also designed to be worn without it (petticoat slip not included). Hidden Talon zipper back with hook closure. Boning throughout the lined bodice/over the bust for a snug, secure fit. The illusion of a larger bust is created by tying the “flaps” on either side in a once-over across the breast area. Skirt is unlined. Much of the stitching was done by hand - unheard of today! The luxurious fabric was quite expensive, in beautiful hues of turquoise, red, white, and black, in a swirled pattern that’s hard to describe - see photo #3 for a close-up and be “wowed”!
This stunning dress will fit a very petite, thin framed female (model was about 95 lbs and 5’-3” tall) with a 32A-34A cup bra size. Measurements are approximate due to the shape/cut of the dress.
Bust: hard to measure due to the boning/shaping; should fit a 32A-34A bra size
Waist: 12” laying flat
Length of bodice from top to waist: 9” hanging
Skirt length from waist to hemline: 25” hanging
Machine wash, gentle cycle in a large lingerie bag or hand wash, hang to dry.
