Johnny Gruelle signed first edition children’s book “in the golden meadow” 1935.

Raggedy Ann in the golden meadow hardcover book by Johnny Gruelle inscripted autographed first edition May 24, 1935. It is the 17th book in the Raggedy Ann Series. There are 30 double sided construction paper quality pages with black and white and color illustrations. Outer binding tape is loose and missing in center. Can easily be restored but will leave to buyer as some want things just as they are. Book pages are naturally aged at edges. Book measures 9 1/2 x 12 1/2 inches. Book is 1/2 inch thick. Outer cover is sturdy illustrated cardboard. Only one torn page on lower right side as pictured on title page. Inner book cover page has a 3/4 innch tear from binding on upper right. Inner holes where binding strings are have enlarged. Book cover edges are worn and roughened as pictured. Book weighs Pencil marks on two pages as shown, 3 marks on one page and Paul writes his name. Can easily be erased but left for authenticity. The author was a cartoonist and illustrator. The truth behind the doll and books creation is both heartwarming and heartbreaking. The author simply drew a face on a ragdoll his daughter Marcella brought to him. Her tragic death as a teenager inspired his stories. The dolls and books were initially sold together. Final sale.
