Vintage Brighton Necklace

This beautiful silver and gold tone necklace is re-purposed from a vintage Brighton Chain belt. The pendant came from the end of the belt. It lends itself beautifully to being a pendant so I hung it on a vintage wheat chain that i took from a vintage Brighton necklace. The 20" chain closes with a lobster clasp and has a 1 1/2" extender. the pendant measures 1 3/4". Brighton's jewelry and other silver accessories, are cast in solid brass or zinc, and then dipped in pure silver. Since silver has a natural tendency to tarnish (oxidize) and scratch, Brighton has added a protective layer of lacquer. One thing good about having a lacquer coating is that it never tarnishes and it makes it very resistant to scratches. I have included a picture of how the belt looked when I bought it.
