hobbyshopluxury
hobbyshopluxury I feel like 30 seconds is perfect and keeps buyers from getting bored and will stay in the show longer . 15 seconds is perfect for requests and buy it now :) 60 seconds will work if that is the total time you are showing an item from start to end

yaketyyakp
yaketyyakp It would be even better if you could auction your stuff directly in your closet for let’s say 3-5 days without having to do a live auction! Many people are just not comfortable with live auctions.
Jun 28Reply

thedigitaldoyen
thedigitaldoyen I'd like to go with 30 seconds. However, if I have a larger crowd, like 15 or more, then I may go to a 60 second auction to give everybody an opportunity.

shop_intherapy
shop_intherapy Great information however it’s not that easy doing lives. I’ve done many of them in the beginning. I had lots of viewers and towards the end this year very little traffic to my shows and I ended up basically giving all my stuff away for three dollars. That’s not good for sellers I’m sure many can agree with this. Perhaps we can get some ideas on how to bring more viewers to our show because I’ve done everything possible and I got tired of giving my stuff away.🙁

Jun 28Reply
shop_intherapy
shop_intherapy @jessica_allego I began doing lives last year, I started at $3 because everyone was as well, it did bring in many viewers but then the viewers declined, and I just could not do $3 anymore because it be like 1 or 2 people buying then, no bidding up, not good for me
Jun 28Reply

shop_intherapy @jessica_allego I have revamped my closet and doing different things, I am seeing more traffic and weekly sales,. Im a little more encouraged now.

spookyheartsg ❤️❤️💯This for live shows only and yes girls for the ones who haven’t done it or started it does sell better then siting items especially if you have duplicates or group things like plus size or home decor aninals . LIVE Sales is the FUTURE of online selling people love the interactions the best deals being able to bundle so make sure YOU have a good amount items to sell so people can buy more then 1 item and save on shipping

Jun 28Reply
shop_intherapy
shop_intherapy @cariparker yes! I agree! It’s hard to do different types of show. I’ve tried 50% off. I’ve tried $10 starts and nothing but if you look at those shows with the three dollar starts they’re on fire, but they’ve been doing it for a very long time. Everybody’s always there, is the same people always there and they’re making $$. But I do agree that it’s almost like you have to do really low starts, I just can’t do it
Jun 28Reply

esim71
esim71 I tried to do a show and got no traffic so I dismantled the set up, and now don’t have any motivation to try another. I worked hard on getting the show set up to make it fabulous. Then I go on other shows and see people sell not so great items for so much $$$. Clearly I’m not quitting my day job to be a salesperson anytime soon. 😂. Nor am I going to go get a sales degree just to sell items out of my closet. Some sales tips would be nice from those doing successful live shows.
Jun 28Reply

Jun 28Reply
shop_intherapy
shop_intherapy You know what a great idea would be it’s when Poshmark has the promotion to view a show and win $$. Maybe it should be view a show you have never viewed before to be entered in the drawing. That way people check out new shows not the same ones. If you want sellers to do more shows then help us get more viewers so that we can do exactly that what’s the sense of paying people to watch shows that already have a high viewer account

marlynshop
marlynshop @shop_intherapy Tips that have help me increase sales, reduce price on the items by less than $5, send discount to all likers, silent shows bring in customers to your closet, Also found a page is called postermywall and you can create flyers for your live show or create any fun listing as well if you can use photoroom and it will removed the background from your pictures and you add cool and fun background! As well take nice pictures with great lighting. Hope everyone have amazing sales!!!

beholdherlife
beholdherlife 30 seconds works great for most of my shoppers and sharers. Apple Pay requires. Full minute for multiple bidders, however.
Jun 28Reply
cariparker
cariparker @shop_intherapy only way you can do low starts is w/a steady following of minimum 100 people (maybe 50) that you trust not to ‘Steal’ the Items for $3.00 bucks. No way am I giving it away! I sell 2-5 items from My Closet a Week w/No Lives. I am just going to give My Best Prices & See what happens. PM is notoriously cheap. There is a precedent here. Also, I’m Branching Out to Other Platforms & going to use a Cross Listing App.
Jun 28Reply

I understand how you feel i felt the same way on my first live show but the more you do them you get recurrent and new customers and lots of sales !!! I'm more motivated to do more live shows just keep trying on the weekends or after work! Create a nice flyer to catch the customer attention!!!
Jun 28Reply
yaketyyakp
yaketyyakp @hobby_shophaven I got bored after 5 minutes in a show. I don’t want to compete for an item and then possibly pay more than I would have normally because you get in a bidding war. I don’t have the patience for live shows either and don’t feel comfortable or feel like spending my time waiting for the item I am interested in to come up. I think it’s trendy and many are unhappy with the quality of items they receive and it will go away just like any other new thing.

hippiechicboho
hippiechicboho @poshing_panner I sure hope you’re right!! Everyone doing shows leaves few to buy anyway. I have done and participated in many lives, and never sold a single item!! If I put my closet on sale and advertise to everyone I can, I usually sell several items. Just sharing my closets, one item at a time gets me sales!! I hope these live shows are just a passing trend!!

And if you wanna run sales even better! Because we can get better deals and one ship price . Jun 28Reply
secsquirrelmerc
secsquirrelmerc @cariparker I agree. From what I see, the people doing $3 start clothing items are purchasing pallets, so they are making a profit. Those of us with a small inventory, or clearing out personal items from our home make $0 on $3 starts. Bundling helps, but when there aren't many viewers to begin with, profits from a show are rare.

_deardarlene
_deardarlene @hippiechicboho I’ve done live shows and they’ve been rough. I haven’t sold anything. It’s actually really discouraging getting on camera and then realizing 1 hr in that nothing has been purchased while mentally battling “should I go another 5 minutes? Maybe someone will come and buy something.” They’re a waste of time it seems.

valmelrich3
valmelrich3 @poshing_panner I totally agree I was disappointed when I tried do my first show I did not have sound and could not see if anyone joined and comments were not showing up. It took me a lot to come out of my comfort zone to do a live show and I felt let down. I emailed customer support they told me try somethings so I'm going to do another show hopefully it will work. Posh should a least have live support for first time shows.
Jun 29Reply
yaketyyakp
yaketyyakp @valmelrich3 yeah, I probably would have been pretty uncomfortable. I just choose to sell from my closet.
Jun 29Reply
kirin13
kirin13 No. Absolutely not. It's like Posh doesn't even listen to the majority of their sellers. So many of us are literally just trying to make ends meet selling things, and pay our bills. Shows/auctions/promoted closet killed any chance of sales most of us ever had and it's so frustrating. Maybe you should focus on getting actual customer traffic into the app (and not bot/fake accounts) instead of trying to force everyone to do shows many of us don't have time, space, or the desire to do??

cottagegifts @ahemdarling Tag some friends in, tag me & I will be happy to give moral support! I almost had a panic attack before my first shows…I kept rescheduling it. Then when I finally did it, I was amazed that it wasn’t as scary as I thought. Do some Silent Shows first to get the hang of how to operate the show controls.
Jun 29Reply

sharmenian_lux
sharmenian_lux @shop_intherapy they aren't making as much as you think. it's turned poshmark into a garage sale. even the big sellers1 lose money.
Jun 29Reply
sharmenian_lux
sharmenian_lux @mittens_kittens most shows now the sellers are asking for you to purchase items to "support the host" because they aren't selling enough to make it worth their time. the only ones surviving are sales that people can save tons of money on designer items. or like me, I sold my daughters clothes and shoes when she moved and made $600 but like a garage sale, not to profit.
Jun 29Reply
shop_intherapy
shop_intherapy @nurseshar2969 do you think? I think if you have a very large audience things get bidded up which is great you can make great money. I learned the hard way, letting designer items go for so cheap never doing it again I didn’t have enough yours to bit up my items so 99% of my items sold at three dollars😆
Jun 29Reply
sharmenian_lux
sharmenian_lux @_deardarlene it has becomeis demeaning, I did a 12 hour show and sold $100, profit maybe $20. The big guys make money off the competition factor. I got caught up in it and then started searching on other sites and found similar designer items for less.
Jun 29Reply
1fashionbliss
1fashionbliss @shop_intherapy I've noticed the same thing. Most that do low starts are selling from pallets, too, so it's a little different. I've also seen large viewers with only a couple bidding throughout the show
Jun 29Reply
1fashionbliss
1fashionbliss @secsquirrelmerc this is exactly what's going on, and a valid observation. I've said the same thing as a seller as well.
Jun 29Reply
shop_intherapy
shop_intherapy @nurseshar2969 wow! I guess we small timers just assume but it makes sense and even if they are selling from pallets, those pallets are really pricey, they have to be able to make their money back.
Jun 29Reply
1fashionbliss

spookyheartsg @shop_intherapy yhx for your input on live shows. I hqsvent done a real live show on posh yet but I saw lots $3 starts . Even if it’s same show and say some1 buys 5 items at $3 each time. They don’t give seller a discount for combined sales? I know shipping helps the buyer but they don’t combined? The items and take just the 2.95 it should be 2.95 or 20% which ever is great for all combined iptems and 1 ship
Jun 29Reply
snow_chic
snow_chic @1fashionbliss also, keep in mind PM sends all kinds of notifications that if you sit through shows your eligible to win such and such $250 drawing. Always some random promotion…. So sometimes, I log on with my ipad and then mute it and walk away. - sorry!

passionaterose
passionaterose @madisonstmarket live show vs promoted closet has a huge difference. the promoted closet isn't doing anything for me, like 2 sales. My first love I was scared, even cried, and couldn't figure out the buttons at all (they need a practice mode like others have). I made $800 in 3 hours. This last show I only made $200 in 6 hours (mostly friend pity 😅) but still better than PC

shop_intherapy
shop_intherapy @twochicklets hey there it was just someone I met that gave me some tips on how to fix my closet. Some of the things I changed are only white backgrounds, I use ChatGPT to create my listings & SEO keywords, and I only sell items that I can list for 30 and up. I list every day now about 2 to 5 items a day, and I relist items in my closet that are 30 days and older. I do this every single day and I am selling now every day.
Jul 24Reply
shop_intherapy
shop_intherapy @twochicklets there are days where I don’t have a sale, but I am definitely selling more items than before. I don’t have any items that won’t sell over at least 20. I do have a lot of designer, my closet is small. Those are the things that I’m doing different and I am having consistent weekly sales and I am not doing any live shows at all. I don’t have any desire to do that anymore.
Jul 24Reply
shop_intherapy
shop_intherapy @bbc760 yes and to think I fell for that and I started selling my items at 3 to 4 dollars most of the time they sell at that price because my audience wasn’t that big. I will never do that again. Bottom line is that you have to be an entertainer people come back because you entertain them and they like you. It’s just like a TV program.

realjerzgirl I've tried different durations, times of day, different pricing approaches... Have had many semi-silent shows - two out of 5 shows were glitchy where I saw people coming in but I couldn't run the auctions! The 3 other shows... no one really came in and if they did then didn't buy. So, I don't know what to say, it does seem that people flock to the same shows over and over and don't come into ones that have only one other person in them. Also wish I knew why people flocked to my problem shows.

dulcie_heim @shop_intherapy couldn’t agree with you more!!! I have been live for almost two years, I pay for promoted closet weekly, and am bringing in new inventory daily! 11-15 viewers max, and many get kicked out and sent to other shows! As a full time seller it is frustrating. I love the 15 seconds for closet requests and 30 seconds for items being shown, if only I could get the traffic to actually bid.
Nov 06Reply
shop_intherapy
shop_intherapy @dulcie_heim I just recently started doing well. I tried at least to do lives again and it’s always the same hurdle. Can’t get them to bid higher past $3, what I’ve noticed that most of the people that shop the three dollar shows are reseller so that would explain it.

I'm losing money most times. - seller fees & whatever you have into an item are taken into consideration, I feel like auctions are for people that have larger inventory or can afford to pay people to take their stuff. PM gets theirs no matter what, please tell me how others are profiting?

standoutstaples @poshshowshub I prefer 30 sec.,unless it was a request - then 15 sec. 60 sec.is good only for Shows w/>than 100 viewers for low start items. I started doing Shows 2 yrs ago & did really good from the start, as they were not as crazy competitive as now (30-50 vs.300+ now) I wish Posh Show team would help new hosts by promoting/highlighting their shows better or sending their viewers to those hosts. For us who struggle would be great to highlight our shows in search, esp. for Share Show hosts

shelb6666
shelb6666 The time I run, an item depends on how complicated the item is the more complicated the longer time I need so that I can be shown properly. Don’t undersell your items you payed a good price then you pay posh, shipping& tax! Remember when someone is starting bids at $3 they make 5-cents! after paying posh!! I try to go on peoples lives and interact. It’s hard talking to yourself for hours so say hello 👋‼️❤️

sunshine32991
sunshine32991 @madisonstmarket Just in case nobody answered, a promoted closet gives a greater percentage of money to Poshmark. In a live show, you get the usual percentage of your sales, and nothing is variable unless you decide to change what you are offering, like a lower start, or lower shipping. There is also the silent show option. Sunshine 💜☀️💜
