Vintage 1950's One Piece Swimsuit / Romper / Playsuit in Plaid Cotton Condition : good, see photos for issues, all mendable or fine to wear as-is Baby Doll One Piece Swim style with boy shorts. No tags or makers marks, appears hand made Fabric feels like cotton. Details : bloomers inside shorts, fully lined, metal zipper in back, belt loops, stretchy ruching, bra like inner top, buttons for straps but seems to tie at neck as the button holes are no longer on the straps. Previously boned on both sides of bust but only one boning piece remains, the side missing boning appears to be mended Style : "Baby Doll swimsuits were shaped like the classic princess suit, but had short boy shorts instead of a skirt. This was very new to the ’50s. Playsuits and rompers were already one piece shorts, but to turn them into a swimsuit was finally acceptable in the ’50s. Most baby doll swimsuits had cuffs on the shorts, some also had small pockets, and others ruffles or piping trim. One trendy style had gathered ties on the sides of the legs.
