This PRISTINE collection of 10 Royal Copenhagen Porcelain Annual Small Mugs are a MUST HAVE for an collector!
The first Annual mug from Royal Copenhagen was published in 1967 and the last in 2014. This collection offers years 1968 through 1977. These unique Danish style mugs are hand painted, 3” tall and diameter of 2 5/8". Each mug has “Royal Copenhagen" and the franchise "Fajance" engraved on it.
Mugs are a good size for a cup of coffee/tea and brings extra jazz to the table. They can of course be washed in the dishwasher, so they are easy to clean and use again and again. PLEASE NOTE! These mugs were never used and were displayed as collectibles.
A bit of history ~ The first annual mugs were produced in faience (tin glazed pottery) and the artists of the first annual mugs were some of the artists who made their big mark on contemporary popular faience art. Thus Nils Thorsson was the designer of the first Annual mugs of 1967 and Ellen Malmer was the designer of the mugs from 1968. Later the material changed from faience to porcelain and the motifs became more colorful and abstract.
In the beginning the year was an important part of the motif, but today it is not nearly as prominent, although it can of course still be seen on the mugs. The artist chooses where he or she will place the year and therefore there is a big difference from year to year.
I try to accurately and honestly describe the items. Please ask questions prior to your purchase. Happy Shopping!
