Skoltec is a 3-season thermal weight (midweight) baselayer, meant to be worn next to skin. Keep in mind baselayers and not primarily an insulating layer, like a puffy say, but instead wick moisture and heat away from the skin. The idea is based on the fact that a wet body is a cold body.
