Antique black beaded evening dress. Please note this item is over 100 years old--see condition report below. The outer layer is chiffon. The sleeves are unlined but beautifully scrolled beading from the elbow down. The chiffon lends a floaty aspect to the flared sleeves. The overblouse is chiffon split from the scoop neckline. It has beaded front panels to the dropped waist. At the waist is a beaded belt. The skirt has 6 beaded free-floating panels. On the bodice is a satin or silk underblouse. The underskirt is also a silk or satin. The closure is complicated, typical for this time period and style. The top closes with snaps. The chiffon section has a hook and eye at the very top. The underblouse closes with snaps to the left. No maker label. We believe this to be for a mature figure by style and size. This remains appropriate for display or careful wearing.Size: no size label, the following measurements were taken lying flat and doubled. Bust-44"; 44" at dropped waist; 15 1/2" across back; 21" shoulder to dropped waist; 20" sleeves; 50" long.Condition: This is at least 100 years old -the following are indications of age. Most notably--both sleeves have holes at the ends--see pics. There are small pinholes in several places--you will have to search for these. There is staining on the inside of the liner at the underarms. The liner inside of the back neckline is discolored. The hook at neckline of overblouse needs to be reinforced. has snaps--the second one is missing.
