COACH vintage metal pre creed bag that eventually became 9170.
Cleaning out closet
Made in New York City.
There is no hang tag on this one.
Originally, I wasn’t sure if it was black or navy. After holding up to another vintage navy and looking at interior I felt certain it’s black.
I listed this bag about first of August and it was brought to my attention (thank u) that it looked to have some mold. So, I made bag “ not for sale” in order to treat for mold.
So, here’s what I’ve done in the last month and order it to treat it for mold…
Wearing gloves I brushed lightly with brush, then I disinfected the areas with a mixture of half vinegar and half water and wiped with microfiber cloth, cleaned the areas with fiebings saddle soap….removed saddle soap with dry clean cloth and then and added conditioner and let dry……I did the entire process 2 times. ALSO, note the last pic collage shows what the mold looked like and are the same pics in original listing that I put for you to compare.
Now to flaws……
Each side near where shoulder strap goes, there is wear to piping. There is a small piping wear on the wide shoulder strap.
The bag is perfectly usable as is but you may choose to fix piping.
Part of description is the pics, so please look up close.

Hi, it appears to have mold inside the bag - has it been treated for mold?

@tracympls
No I have not. It appeared to me like lotion or something. Normally, I thought mold would have spots all over. If this is the case, I will certainly pull and treat for mold.

@glampam60 LOVE the bag - obsessed with the wide strap. If you treat it so it's safe, I'm interested in it. Thx!

I appreciate that and pulled yesterday after you commented. I’ve never sold with mold or would knowingly try to. I absolutely will treat and get back with you. Thank u.

I have been working on the bag and treated twice for mold and will be revising the listing and adding pictures hopefully tonight. I’m still with my dementia mom and I can get her settled down tonight I will revise. If not tonight, I will by tomorrow.

@glampam60 Thank you!

It will only allow 16 pics, I took new ones outside and need to replace as I want current. However, I did a collage of the 2 current pics showing mold spores (to compare).

Just an FYI if you diluted the vinegar it didn't kill the mold. You need atleast 5 percent vinegar to kill mold which is how it comes normally from the store.

Thank u. I did not know that. I read over and over places and it had to mix 1:1.

I’ve worked on many but never mold. I appreciate advice.

@glampam60 no problem! I've done the research and it needs to be no less than 5 percent for it to kill the mold. I've used it to treat all of my bags that I get in as a precaution. I would also treat any bags that were near this one as well just incase.

Ok I will. Thank u again.

@glampam60 I just put some vinegar in a spray bottle and spray the outside,inside, any pockets, and strap with it and then set it tp dry in front on a fan. After that you should be fine😊
