bwainman @jrbarbee52 sorry I did not see your question. I do not know where it was made my son is 33 and I bought it here in Virginia at a craft show some 30 years ago. I think the marks should some off maybe try a little wood cleaner and lemon oil. It has just been sitting in my basement for years
