Scottish Victorian brooch 19th Century Large Sterling Scottish Brooch or Pendant With outstanding craftsmanship, this scalloped edged round brooch/pendant is set with a stunning array of Scottish agates and adorned with exceptionally detailed engraving throughout. Scottish Agates are renowned across the world for their particularly fine coloring and patterns. These stones may include bloodstone, jasper, and other agates. The Mother of Pearl one may be a replacement, but its glow adds a lot of beautiful depth to the brooch. Upon close inspection, there is a bit of chipping to one of the darkest stones, but it is secure. The most solid colored Jasper, although flush and feeling secure, is actually loose. The brooch’s pin is slightly inwardly bent, not affecting its use. The hinge is perfectly working and it has a C-catch. The bale has a bent round ring that is stable. As is typical, the silver is not marked but tests as sterling. Measuring 2.125" across and is approximately 0.375" thick. It weighs in at a whopping 30.0 grams!
