They're thick & fluffy for extra warmth, durable enough for hiking, & soft enough to hug your feet while you sleep. Camel hair has amazing elasticity, & these are woven in such a way to fit nearly every foot, although I can't vouch for the extreme sizes. They're great for camping because they're antibacterial; you don't have to wash them every day. You can wear them 3-7 days, but let them air out overnight.
