Wrist watch designed by Alfred Dunhill.
Beautiful and elegant wristwatch, retailed by the Alfred Dunhill Company in London England. Crafted during the Art Deco period, back in the 1930's in solid sterling silver with high polished finish. Designed with a cushion Tonneau shape with a bombe glass and fitted with a Swiss mechanical movement. Fitted at the back with a discreet hinged concealed lid and a snap to open and close to be serviced.
Dial: Cushion shaped, silver with luminous Arabic numerals and blue steel hands, Round seconder. Signed Dunhill.
Movement: Mechanical, hand winding. Swiss made with 15 jewels, case ref numbers 894176.
Weight: Case only is 15.98 Grams, (10.24 Dwt). All parts 24.2 Grams.
Size: The leather strap is brand new, with a lenght of 8.50 inches (21.50 Cm) and can be adjusted.
Case Measurements: 27 mm by 34 mm (1.06 x 1.34 Inches) and a thickness of 9 mm.
Hallmarks Stamped with the maker's mark, the mark for the assay of the silver and signed, "DUNHILL 894176".
Alfred Dunhill
He inherited his father’s London saddlery in 1893. Following the increase in motor car ownership, Alfred developed the business to include motoring accessories, which he called ‘Dunhill’s Motorities’. This included goggles, timepieces, picnic sets, and leather coats, and it wasn’t long before the brand became associated with men’s general motoring attire.
