The front material is not stretchy, but the shirred back allows lots of stretch for a snug fit up top for varying bust sizes. This also means that the width measurement is just an approximation without stretching. The coverup portion is sheer, the main portion of the bodice is not sheet. This looks fabulous with skirts and jeans or layered under a jacket. I noticed a few tiny pin pricks in the fabric (see last photo). They do not take away from the look and can barely be seen.
