The exquisite detail of the head of Leda from Leonardo's great painting of Leda and the Swan seems to glow with a kind of light on the bronze. These beautiful bronze reliefs were made for museum gift shops. Founded in 1987, Facsimilies designs, manufactures, and sells handmade sculptural replicas and adaptations of historic works of art. Facsimilies will operate as a subsidiary of Design Master and will move its sales and manufacturing operations to Virginia. Design Master, founded in 1983 by Byron Whitehurst, a former silversmith at Colonial Williamsburg, currently employs 50 people in a 40,000 square-foot-facility. Both companies count museums, preservation organizations, and historical associations among their customers.
