Has this dress been altered in any way? Has the hem been altered? Thank you so much for your help.

@chessmen Hello, this dress doesn't show any signs of alterations. Please let us know if you have any other questions we are always happy to help.

Thank you for your reply. May I ask where this dress was purchased from? Thank you so much for your help.

I just wanted to know if you are the original owner or if the dress. Please let me know. I am interested. Thank you so much for your help.
twisted_horn
@chessmen No, we are not the original owners. We are a business that sells quality garments in a condition we feel would be appreciated by its recipients. Our items are carefully inspected for wear, damage, or any other flaws so we know you will receive an item you will truly enjoy.

Thank you for your reply. I am confused about the length. I have a DVF maxi dress with the same style tag on the interior of the garment. It is size 2 and the length from the base of the collar to the end is 61 inches. As your dress is a size 4 wouldn't the length be at least 61 inches or a bit longer? Thank you so much for your help.
twisted_horn
@chessmen Our measurements are approximate and the photos show where the start of the measurements are taken as well so you have a clearer understanding. Maxi dresses are not always the same length, but rather a range. This range is due to the various heights of individuals, and shorter lengths are typically for shorter women so they don't step on the dress as they walk. We recommend measuring yourself to see where the bottom of the dress will end on you to determine if it is a proper fit.
chessmen
Thank you but why would DVF make a size 4 dress shorter than a size 2 dress?
chessmen
Could you re-measure the length of the dress from the top of the collar in the back to the end? Thank you so much for your help.

@chessmen I don't work for DV so I can't say. I can only speculate it is because width is not the same as length. You may be 140lbs at 5' tall or you may be 110 at 5'6. If you are 5' tall, you don't want a dress at 60" long because it's going to be dragging behind you and getting damaged. I would hope DV wouldn't make only 60" long dresses for women over 6'6" as that would limit their audience.

Could you also provide a close-up photo of the stitching at the base of the dress (interior and exterior). Thank you so much for your help.

I sincerely apologize. I was following up from my partner stating there were no alterations and trusted her word. Thank you so much for asking the questions. I was reviewing the photos and notice an inconsistency at the hem, showing it is probably altered. On the 11th photo, you can see where the hem has come undone. Again, I am sorry. We aim to be transparent and honest with our customers. I was incorrect with my statement. With that said, this item likely matches your dress at 61"

If you could re-measure and provide the addtional photos I greatly appreciate it. Thank you so much.

Sorry, I am confused. Are you saying the length has been shortened? If so why would would the dress be 61 inches? It would be shorter than 61 inches...
twisted_horn
@chessmen I am currently looking at the hem and confused now myself. at first glance, it appears it was hemmed. I was starting to unstitch the hem, but now it looks like the dress was made hemmed that way and perhaps just a small section of the hem came undone. This became a bigger issue than I expected.
twisted_horn
@chessmen If I may ask, what is it you are looking for? What are the measurements you want? Maybe that will help me help you best. Do you want it to be 61" or are you simply requesting confirmation?
twisted_horn
@chessmen I remeasured from the middle base of the collar rather than the top of the shoulder. With the hem, it's 67". With the hem undone, it gains an inch at 68"
twisted_horn
I mean 57" and 58"
chessmen
That's OK. It's a nice dress. Please do the following: 1) Measure the length of the dress again. Please lay the dress on a flat surface and measure from the top of the collar (in the back) to the bottom of the dress 2) Please take close-up photos of the stitching at the bottom of the dress (interior and exterior). Thank you so much for your help.
chessmen
Thank you. Could you provide close-up photos of the stitching at the bottom of the dress? I would like to see what the stitching looks like on the exterior and interior side of the dress. Thank you so much for your help.
