This exquisite piece, sourced at the Santa Fe International Folk Art Market (IFAM), is an original creation of Pakistani embroidery artist, designer, and grass roots entrepreneur Gohar Sajid, for whom I have interpreted at IFAM several times. Although her work follows the traditional “jisti” embroidery of her region—Khyber Pakhtunkwa—each piece is unique, created outbb b of her imagination, without using a stencil.
