Antique 1919 The American Front by Ernest Peixotto. - Ernest Clifford Peixotto (1869–1940) was an American artist, illustrator, and author. During World War I, Peixotto served as a captain in the United States Army Corps of Engineers, director of the Section of Painting, and one of eight official artists attached to the American Expeditionary Force, whose job was to create a visual record of events. This book records some of his experiences and the art he created recording what he witnessed. - First edition published in 1919 by Charles Scribner's Sons, Chicago. - Peixotto's original artworks are throughout - Beautiful decorative gilt embossed cover - Good condition for age. Cover has some surface wear through front motif is well preserved. Pages inside are largely clean but has some age spotting in paces, mostly around illustrated pages which are made of a different kind of paper. There is a crack in the spine around halfway through.
