What a beautiful silhouette, from Japanese fashion designer Hanae Mori (d. 2022), excerpt below from Wikipedia.
The size tag has been removed, but this has a relaxed, Japanese Kimono fit - cuffs are wide though tapered from rest of roomy sleeve, body is somewhat boxy though also tapers in at bottom.
Double breasted (buttons only to left side) in beautiful two tone buttons with bronze trim. Two big square pockets at front, and two tapered wool sashes that fall from neck. SO fine, SO beautiful. An heirloom piece.
Measurements:
25" sleeve, (20.5" from seam, which should fall off the shoulder)
54" around chest
45" overall length
In excellent vintage condition; no stains, no holes, no tears or blemishes. This piece has been worn and cared for - the wool has rubbing/wear at inside neck above tag, as pictured, and the silk lining around back below tag also has rubbing and wear, as pictured.
Hanae Mori (Japanese: 森 英恵, Hepburn: Mori Hanae, /həˌnɑːeɪ ˈmɔːri/, 8 January 1926 – 11 August 2022) was a Japanese fashion designer. She was one of only two Japanese women to have presented her collections on the runways of Paris and New York, and the first Asian woman to be admitted as an official haute couture design house by the Fédération française de la couture in France.[1][2] Her fashion house, opened in Japan in 1951, grew to become a $500 million international business by the 1990s.[3]
