If you are wondering what a CHATELAINE is, here's one 😁. Sorry...a true antique CHATELAINE was a belt worn by the lady of the house. It was usually a chain that fit around the waist and held decorative items along with the keys to the home. The things decorating the belt showed others how important or well thought of a woman was. I don't think this is a true antique. However, I see the piece of ?leather? that has the metallic piece of a man wearing antique style clothes that seems to be antique. This part of the CHATELAINE actually looks antique.???!!! It makes me think it was an old leather belt that has practically discentigrated. I don't know. The things hanging from that chain don't look antique but rather just decorative. It just seems to be a very nice conversation piece. The only thing I know is what it is...a CHATELAINE.
