Vintage Scottish Stag’s Head White Metal Enameled Brooch. White Metal brooch with a turquoise blue enamel border. This is another lovely Scottish brooch. It is a vintage one - with a bit of age to it - probably mid-century in date. Listed as being made of white metal as there is no hallmark. The brooch is a nice larger size: 4.5 cm in diameter. Features Scottish thistles and leaves embossed around the edges with a large stag in the center. In Scotland, the stag represents strength and endurance and was an ancient power symbol of the Celts. In Celtic mythology, the stag was seen as a powerful and regal creature, often associated with the god Cernunnos, who was the god of the forest and the hunt. The stag is also associated with many Scottish clan families such as the Robertsons, MacKenzies, Frasers, Gordons and Maxwells etc. Secured by a pin and simple c clasp at the back. Ideal for a plaid, sash or wrap. Vintage 1960’s in very good condition with a small amount of age related wear and patina. 45mm diameter.
