Caribe China was only in business from 1951 until 1976, just outside of San Juan, Puerto Rico. Because of its location on the Island, Caribe is a bit of an outlier in Midcentury American china and restaurant ware manufacturers, and it's a shame the pottery didn't survive -- though it did very well for over 20 years. This mug is marked with the Caribe China, Puerto Rico USA backstamp, and the code "R-2," which means the cup was manufactured in the second quarter of 1965. The mug, including pedestal, stands 4.5" tall and holds 8 ounces. Excellent vintage condition with no chips, cracks, or crazing. Small changes make a big difference!
