Prior to becoming the head designer for Trifari, Alfred Philippe was a master craftsman for Cartier and Van Cleef and Arples. His experience in fine jewelry led him to create costume jewelry that was just as special and unique. He began working at Trifari in 1930 and continued until 1968.
This flying fish brooch was designed by Alfred Philippe in the 1950s. It is part of the Petalettes collection, these petals "wings" are made of pink poured glass. The metal is gold plated and there is a green finely cut, hand-finished Austrian rhinestone for the eye. Note some wear to the gold plate consistent with age/wear. There is some residue on the backside of one of the petals. Photos were taken in various lighting conditions to make it easier for you to review, please zoom all pictures. Note this brooch is an unsigned book piece.
*The rollover safety clasp is nice and tight.
