Vintage Cocktail Hat in Black Velvet with Bows

Simple, but emphatic, vintage cocktail style hat from mid-century. It is a little topper in black velvet. The round, disc crown is simple enough, but is anchored to the head with V-shape anchors decorated with little velvet bows. At the center back, it is only the V. This was sold by Owens of Rockford Illinois. Owens filed bankruptcy in 1973 which, in addition to the style, helps us to date this to early mid-century. Size: the crown disc is 6 x 6.
