Here is a deal on two unique hand gilded porcelain jewelry boxes with brass hardware and hinged lids. First, is the lovely floral jewelry casket which measures 3 1/4" long x 1 7/8" wide x 1 1/4" deep. The white enamel, delicate flowers and gold gilding are all typical of French feminine boudoir boxes. Next, the green and gold jewelry box measures 3 1/4" long x 1 7/8" wide x 1 3/8" deep. This box has a unique raised quilt pattern, often referred to as a "quilted casket cover" which features a textured and raised above the surface giving the box a three-dimensional appearance, and near the bottom and around the top edge are painted tiny flowers. These jewelry caskets have been enjoyed for decades, minor enamel chipping and some wear is visible on both trinket boxes (enlarge photos for details). A maker's mark is not under the glaze; however, the style and hand painting on these ring boxes appear to be French craftsmanship.
