A stunning large bag from Wilardy in a marbelized lucite with a gold tone filigree medallion snap/clip closure. The medallion is centered with a small pearl and the top handle is anchored with the same type medallions. The handle is hinged to swivel and is twisted then formed into one piece at the top. It's an elongated oval shape and measures 10" wide, 7" in height and a depth of 3.75"; the handle drop is 5.5". It opens with the hinged top and has its mirror under the lid in perfect condition. Wilardy began in 1946 by a Father and Son. The lucite was heated and formed over wooden moulds. These bags were very expensive in their day and were owned by the rich and famous such as Marilyn Monroe, Ida Lupino and Jane Wyman to name a few. There are a few cloudy areas and I'm uncertain if it was from the original process or from aging; scratches are found on the bottom and a few on the lid but it's certainly in wonderful condition for its age. A fabulous collectible or useful bag! Thanks for looking!
