Chinese Export 'Canton Famille Rose,' or 'Rose Medallion' Large Bowl/Punch Bowl
This rare and exquisite Antique Rose Medallion Chinese Export Punch Bowl c 1840-1849 was likely for the American market. Research shows a Famille Rose palette applied in tones of rose, lapis lazuli, onyx, jade among other colors, making this one a unique piece. 24 Karat gold leaf has been applied throughout.
14 inches across the top of bowl and 7 1/2 inches tall, VERY HEAVY BOWL AROUND 8 LBS
No utensil marks
Condition: good, showing minor enamel losses and wear consistent with age. (Please see pictures for details, need more pictures just ask)
I have seen others similar to this on the internet for as much as 25 grand.

It does have a small firing kiln split on (foot Rim-see pic # 12) that occurred during the firing of a piece of pottery or porcelain. See #13
Firing lines are not damage that occurred after production. Firing lines typically occur at the weakest points in the clay body
during the firing. Particular areas susceptible to firing lines include hanging holes on wall plaques, wall pockets hanging baskets and on the corners of pottery pieces for example a clip-corner platter from the 1845-1865 period.
The foot rim of large bowls, jugs and platters is also another location susceptible to kiln split (small heat crack). As you can see in the picture, it is not bad and it has been there for years and years and has not caused any problems with this bowl.
