There are two layers in the box, one for the silver and one for the gold. King approximately 3 1/4" Made around 1969 or 1970 The company's description of this set is "A magnificent set of chessmen in the Classic tradition. The textured shafts are indicative of hammered metal and tooled leather wrought by the artisans of the middle ages. The crowns. Finials, and the tri-faceted helmets of the pawns are all fashioned after the styles of that era. Each chessman reflects distinctive beauty and discriminating taste, and bears the hallmark of its designer, Classic Games." The pieces are weighted with felt bottoms and are made of a hard plastic. Each has the "CG" Classic Games maker's mark on the base. The board is a hard cardboard. This game appears almost new. I see no wear on the pieces. The board has a little surface wear as does the box. Most items I sell are antique . Unless otherwise stated, all items have been used. This is not considered damage.
