Our band, Quiet Riot, released two albums in the mid 70’s in Japan that never really got to see the light of day in the U.S. Kevin wanted to take the albums into a recording studio and give them a more modern and updated sound. Working together resulted in a compilation CD that finally allowed the music to be heard. The cover art that Kevin commissioned for the album was the original painting pictured. Kevin and I shared a great appreciation for art. However, a photo concept was ultimately used for the CD which was titled “Quiet Riot: The Randy Rhoads Years.” Several years later, shortly before his death, Kevin showed up at my house with the painting beautifully matted and framed. “I brought you a present!”, he said. The painting has hung in my house ever since, and I have always viewed it as testament to our friendship. This art has for the most part never been shared or used in association with the band.
