The bowl has a base that protrudes. Wide rim with straight sides. The colors are soooo pretty, I held onto this piece for about a decade before letting it go now. I never actually used it, it was just sitting on a shelf of things that bring me joy to look at. Gorgeous piece. If i were to use this, I'd use it as a kitchen bowl for fruit or as a salad bowl.
