Avon 1971 Precious Pretenders Vintage Gold Plated Necklace This is a fabulous Precious Pretenders Necklace the first jewelry line by Avon- in gorgeous condition. Does not come in original box the box. Measuring approximately 14-16” Hook style closure Avon was born in 1886 under the name California Perfume Company by David McConnell because of the abundance of flowers found in the state. They would become Avon in the 1939 after first using the name Avon on their first cosmetics line in the 1920’s. By 1971 Avon was ready to launch their first Jewelry line called Precious Pretenders which was gold plated set although the pieces came separately to allow people to buy as much or as little as they wanted.
