Stunningly beautiful vintage Maison Gripoix for Chanel poured glass necklace and earring demi parure circa the 1930s-1950s. This design was first created for Chanel in the 1930s, as part of a range of pieces related to the Mughal Empire in theme. A version of this necklace with a spring ring closure rather than the hook and beaded tail, appears in the book Jewels of Fantasy attributed to the year 1950. I believe this particular set dates to the 1940s. The earrings have a screw back closure, and the necklace is about 16.75” or so in length, end to end. Fabulous collector’s set. Signs of age and use throughout - some missing beads and petals, some cracked and chipped petals, patina, as well as some wear to the surface of some of the pearls - but the design is so intricate, the flaws are difficult to see. Rare pieces, and rarer still as a pair. Unsigned, from the early days of Chanel, before they began marking their jewelry. I’ve had the set professionally authenticated and will pass certificate information on to the buyer, and then of course, anything over $500 goes through Poshmark authentication as well.
